A sales job is rarely seen as something that can be contracted out because there is often a learning curve associated with being able to effectively represent a product or service. Agreed. However, there are several sales stages and all but one (demonstrations) could be performed by a contract sales professional. Business development could simply be a telemarketer or, it could be much more involved and deal with relationship building. Either way, a contractor can be very effective.
Writing a solid proposal and making sure all the details are covered is imperative in a complex or custom sale. As a part of writing that proposal, those details must be negotiated, and a professional negotiator could save you thousands.
Why not contract out account managers? Think about that. You want someone who will follow up on a regular basis with every customer. This doesn’t require face-to-face interaction or even technical knowledge (message the tech personnel with a task to call that customer). You could pay by the call, the hour, or the renewal (where appropriate). Regardless, think of the overhead and taxes alone you could save by contracting out for this position.
Jotted Line can assist you with any of these functions. But, if you still think you need salaried and commissioned salespeople, we can help you train them in these areas to improve their skills and their results.
